Montreal MLS Expansion Bid Withdrawn

MLS has withdrawn the Montreal expansion bid from consideration, amidst financing questions.

“Montreal has had to evaluate what kinds of private capital they need to refinance their stadium, to fund the expansion fee, and what kind of public support would be available,” commissioner Don Garber said.  “I’m not sure they were able to come to terms in this economic environment.”

The group will meet with the media on Monday.
