FIFA – A Model of Fiscal Stability

FIFA remains untouched by the credit crisis, according to President Sepp Blatter.

“For the time being we have not lost money and are well equipped to face up to the current crisis thanks to our financial policy which involves a diversification of assets and very low exposure to currency or foreign exchange volatilities.”
And, it isn’t concerned about the future.
“We also have 95 percent of our budget already under contract and have managed our costs. The diversification of our portfolios and our television contract partners gives us cautious optimism for the future.”

As a show of solidarity with the rest of us, however, FIFA will downgrade from Moet et Chandon Grand Vintage to the White Star.

I’m using this picture for every Sepp Blatter post.  Variety be damned.

Capi Caught Smoking

Authoritative Arsenal “Capi” William Gallas angered Arsene Wenger, by being photographed outside a nightclub on Wednesday with a cigarette, in blatant violation of the Arsenal fitness regime.

“He has a responsibility as captain of Arsenal Football Club,” Wenger said, “that cannot be accepted.”

Gallas has endured heavy criticism of his captaincy, stemming from a petulant on the field protest in a 2-2 draw with Birmingham that engendered a collapse costing Arsenal the title.

Wenger remains faithful to Gallas, although he hasn’t proved that he should be starting central defender this season, let alone be wearing the armband.
